Description
The Michigan Wolverines‘ navy and maize color scheme is one of the most recognizable in all of collegiate sports, and those vivid hues are front and center on its latest Jordan Brand PE: an Air Jordan 1.
Crisp white quarter panels made of shaggy suede provide an anchor point for the design, then immediately branch out into the signature shades of Ann Arbor’s beloved squad. Stingray leather is used on the bright yellow heels, collar flaps and toebox, while rich navy croc leather graces eyestays, mudguards and collars.
Branding is handled by yellow midfoot Swooshes plus navy Air Jordan ball-and-wings logos on the collar flaps, and a school-specific Michigan M logo replaces the standard Nike Air graphic on the left shoe’s tongue tag. White midsoles and yellow outsoles finalize the look. Select images also show a comparison to the Wolverines’ ultra-rare Air Jordan 3 PE that first debuted in 2017.
The sneaker is dressed in prime-time Michigan fashion as the blue and yellow each paint different aspects of the silhouette. And not to mention across different overlays, animal print takes over for an un-conventional look. The paneling is kept in classic white while Navy Blue overlays are shown off around the toe and lacing system. Then suddenly a pop of yellow grabs the eyes attention as it paints the toe box, midfoot Nike Swoosh as well as the heel.
Navy laces tie the sneaker down while a white midsole and yellow outsole completes the design. You can also expect to see Michigan branding somewhere on the shoe like the tongue, heel or inner sock liner.
