Description
Though Jordan Brand has had to face many challenges in 2020, it has still been one of their biggest years on record. The growth of the lineage in a pandemic is incomprehensible, but the fact remains that Mike’s footwear line is as popular as ever. It’s even expanding into foreign markets at rapid rates. His success in China and Japan is well documented, but the success a little further south in the island nation of the Philippines often avoids coverage. For those that do know, the country is big on sneakers — real big. It was only a matter of time before Jordan Brand opened up their very first flagship retail location in the area — and come December 3rd, 2020, it will be official. So to celebrate their first-ever Jordan retail store in South East Asia, Jordan Brand will be releasing an ultra-limited edition Air Jordan 4 “Manila” to represent the Philippines and their love for the game of basketball.
The 150-pair run ensures that these will be as elusive as an NBA Finals featuring James Harden, and when you partner that rarity with a premium build and an atypical Jordan colorway, you’ve got yourself one expensive aftermarket sneaker. Design-wise, the pair’s vibrant green upper is said to be inspired by the lush tropical islands of the country. It’s anchored in cracked leather and comes capped with textured animal finishes at the toe, tongue, and rear wings. Premium leather liners and quilted insoles elevate the pair even further, while other subtle inclusions like rare embroidery, Manilla midfoot tags, and lightly waxed laces add some fine touches. Completing the pair’s design is a sail sole unit popped with national red, blue and yellow flashes, and numbered inner tongue tags — all of which comes housed in a special-edition box.
